DIY FABRIC WRIST CORSAGE, A LOVELY KEEPSAKE FOR A WELCOME, A FAREWELL, A BRIDE, A MOTHER TO BE, A GUEST OF HONOR, A BIRTHDAY PARTY, OR A PROM.
Spring and summer as a military wife is a busy season filled with a multitude of emotions! Our hearts break as we bid fond farewells to many beloved sisters PCS’ing to new military posts, and our hearts are ever expanding as we open them to new arriving members joining our tribe.
It is also a season filled with tradition. We mark beginnings and endings of our senior spouse teams (Commander and CSM Spouses) with their own celebrations. We dedicate an evening or an afternoon in honor of them.
These marvelous events happen when a team of hearts and hands come together. …A color palette, flowers, name tags, room decor, escorts, a menu, receiving lines, guest lists, invitations, and special mementoes (always different and creative) are just a few items on the to-do list. It is amazing how these things come together and are the most wonderful of occasions. It is magical really!
Phew, I need a moment! My heart is exploding thinking about how much I adore my Army sisters who give so much of themselves always.
Today on Sparkling Charm I am sharing one of the special mementoes I was speaking of above. The DIY Fabric Flower Wrist Corsage, not only is it pretty, it can be kept in a keepsake box as a memory of a Sparkling Moments in Time.

Fabric Flower Materials:
4″ x 22″ fabric strip, folded 2″ x 22″
needle
translucent thread
Fabric Flower Directions
Fold the 2″ x 22″ piece of fabric in 1/2 to equal a 1″ strip.
With a threaded needle, opposite the fold, sew a basting stitch from end to end.
Pull the thread causing the fabric to gather as you go. Leave the needle attached at the end.
Carefully form a circle and continue to coil the gathered fabric strip to the center of the circle to form a fabric flower.
Push the threaded needle up through the center of the coiled flower.
Push the needle back through to the bottom of the flower.
Stitch the fabric flower together at the bottom working in a circle.
Tie the thread off with a knot and clip the thread.
Turn your flower over and fluff it a bit. DONE!
Option: Hot glue a small circle of felt to the bottom of the flower to cover the stitches.
Optional: Floral Corsage Box and Crinkle Stuffing, found at local craft store.
Courage Assembly
Cut a 3 1/2″ x 1 3/4″ oblong piece of foam sheet.
Fold the oblong piece of foam in half and cut two 1/2 inch slits in the foam to form a loop for the ribbon to go through.
Thread the ribbon through the slits making sure the ribbon is distributed evenly on both sides.
Glue your base layer onto the foam with hot glue.
Pre-arrange the embellishments.
Glue the embellishments in place.

PS This post has me reminiscing about my time as an out-going commander’s spouse. At my farewell from the 1-17 Infantry, I was given one of these lovely keepsakes, it was handmade by a beautiful 1-17 Infantry Buffalette named Martha. At our monthly Coffee (Coffee is rarely served. It is code for a monthly “Girl (and a few guys) Party.” SMILE!). The first Buffaltette to RSVP got to wear a lovely Bufflatette hat and a royal blue boa. Martha randomly harvested the feathers from this boa from the ground and used them in this corsage. Of course this just melted my heart as it made it even more special.
