  • EASY RECIPE – This simple recipe can be whipped up in a jiffy. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl, roll into balls, bake. That is it!

Can You Make Sausage Balls Ahead of Time?

Absolutely YES you can fine people! Reheating and baking Cranberry Pecan Sausage Balls can be done two ways.

Refrigerator Method

Uncooked

Add all ingredients into a mixing bowl and combine with clean hands. Cover with plastic wrap and store in an airtight container one day before baking. Follow directions in below recipe to cook.

Cooked

Follow recipe below to completion. Cool completely. Store in an airtight container for for up to three days. When ready to serve, microwave for 15 to 30 seconds or bake at 350°F. for 30 minutes or until cooked through.

Freezer Method:

Uncooked

Add all ingredients into a mixing bowl and combine with clean hands. Shape into balls. Layer with wax paper in an airtight container. Freeze for up to three months. Thaw, complete my below recipe.

Cooked

Follow recipe below to completion. Cool completely. Store in an airtight container for for up to three months. Microwave for 15 to 30 seconds or bake at 350°F. for 30 minutes or until cooked through.

Cranberry Pecan Sausage Balls Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pound pork sausage, uncooked
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups flour, all purpose
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 cup dried cranberries
  • 3/4 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons red pepper flakes

Dip these in cranberry sauce for an extra zing! I recommend my mama’s Jezebel Sauce.

Instructions

Preheat oven 350°F.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl until completely mixed. (Using clean hands works best.) Scoop and roll into balls.

Preparing the Sausage Balls To Bake

Place on the prepared baking sheet 2 inches apart.

Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm or at room temperature with Cranberry Jezebel Sauce.

You will need six mini boards or pretty dessert plates.

SHOP MINI BOARDS

Ingredients

  • 3 sticks unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons lemon zest
  • 1/2 purple onion, thinly sliced
  • 6 cherry tomatoes, sliced into halves
  • fresh basil, julienned
  • fresh or edible marigolds
  • flaked salt
  • pepper

Instructions

Divide the softened butter between each board and spread with the back of a spoon.

Arrange the sliced onion, tomatoes, and fresh basil on each board. Next, sprinkle with the lemon zest and optional edible marigolds, drizzle with the olive oil, and finish with flaked salt and pepper.

Butter Board Tips

  • Use parchment paper on butter board for easy clean up.
  • You can sometimes purchase mini corn muffins in the bakery section of your grocery store.
  • Add chilli lime seasoning for an extra zing. I recommend Trader Joe’s Chili Lime Seasoning.
  • Add butter knives to the board to help bypass germ-spreading. It will encourage spreading verses dipping.

Serves 6 to 8

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 +/- tablespoons milk
  • sprinkles

Don’t feel like making homemade butter cream? Use your favorite pre-packaged frosting.

Instructions

Add the butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk into a mixing bowl. On high speed, mix until smooth and creamy.

Spread the mixture onto a board or pretty platter leaving room for the cookies. Add sprinkles!

  • Use parchment paper on butter board for easy clean up.
  • You can sometimes purchase mini corn muffins in the bakery section of your grocery store.
  • Add chilli lime seasoning for an extra zing. I recommend Trader Joe’s Chili Lime Seasoning.
  • Add butter knives to the board to help bypass germ-spreading. It will encourage spreading verses dipping.

Pumpkin Pimento Cheese Ball

Serves 4 to 6

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup sharp yellow cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 jar pimentos, drained
  • 8 ounce package cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise, Duke’s if available

SUPPLIES

Pumpkin Shaped Pimento Cheese Ball

Instructions

Lay a piece of plastic wrap on a flat surface. Sprinkle the sharp yellow cheddar on a small plate.

Add the pimentos, cream cheese, white cheddar cheese, mayonnaise, and pepper into a mixing bowl and mix on medium speed until well combined.

Pimento Cheese Ball

Using a rubber spatula, bring the mixture into the center of the bowl forming a ball.

Pimento Cheese Ball Ingredients

Generously roll the ball in the prepared yellow sharp cheddar and place on the prepared plastic wrap.Wrap the pimento cheese ball with the plastic wrap.

Holiday Cheese Ball

Wrap the kitchen string across and around the ball gently pressing it into the pimento cheese. Twist the string at the bottom and wrap the opposite way across and around again. Then, twist again this time at the top down the center of the fourths. Lastly, twist again at the bottom and back up the opposite side. Tie off at the top. Place in the refrigerator for at least one hour to chill. ( See photos in post.)

Easy Peach Jam Cream Cheese & Cracker Appetizer

I remember as a little girl looking forward to visits to Mae Mae’s home in Atlanta. She always served a soft block of cream cheese with some type of jam, jelly, or preserve and a savory cracker. I knew my mother would only allow a polite small serving as it was important to use good manners. Believe me when I tell you, I could have eaten the entire thing. Even the visits with green pepper jelly on top.


  • EASY – A fantastic on hand appetizer for any occasion. Especially an unexpected drop in guest.
  • 3 INGREDIENTS – Cream Cheese + Crackers + Jam, Jelly, or Preserves
  • TASTY – Sweet, Creamy, and savory! It is a top performing crowd pleaser for the majority!

Cream cheese has a thick smooth texture and a pronounced tanginess that perfectly pairs with jams, jellies, and preserves, sweet fruity flavors.

Easy Peach Jam Cream Cheese & Cracker Appetizer

Easy Peach Jam Cream Cheese & Cracker Board

Ingredients

  • 1 block cream cheese
  • peach jam or your favorite jam, jelly, or preserves
  • 2 two peaches, sliced and core removed.
  • favorite crackers | toasts (I used Fine Cheese Company Toasts. I pick them up at Fresh Market, Whole Foods, and Amazon Grocery.)

Instructions

Form the cream cheese into a ball and use the back of a spoon or scoop to make a well in the top of the cream cheese. (I pressed the cream cheese into a large #5 scoop and then used the back to make the well.) Placing the block of cream cheese directly on the board and using the back of a spoon to create a well is an option too. 😉

Arrange sliced peaches and the crackers around the cream cheese.

What does Crudités Mean?

The word crudités means raw, or rawness. Only pronounced in the plural, crudités are French appetizers consisting of sliced or whole raw vegetables. Moreover, they are typically dipped in a light vinaigrette or a dip.

What is the Difference Between Charcuterie and Crudités?

Charcuterie refers to the meat portion of a tapas platter or board, while Crudités is whole or sliced vegetables. Cheeses, dips, and sometimes candies are added to compliment either. I personally name my boards/platters by what I want to hi-light.

Makes 24

Ingredients

  • 48 Tater Tots, thawed (32 ounce bag)
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese (I used Cabot Seriously Sharp White Cheddar)
  • 2 apples, peeled, cored, and grated
  • 3 prosciutto slices or 4 bacon slices, fried crispy and crumbled
  • 3/4 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
  • chives, chopped
  • sea salt and black pepper

TOOLS YOU’LL NEED

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350° F.

Place a 24 cup mini muffin pan in the oven and heat for 15 minutes. Remove and spray with cooking spray.

Place 2 tater tots in each well of the mini muffin pan and let them thaw completely. Add a tiny bit of shredded apple in the bottom of each well. Use clean hands to smash the tater tots creating a well/cup.

Sprinkle on the shredded cheddar cheese. If you are using prosciutto add it now.

Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let them sit for 3 minutes. Next, remove from the pan onto a platter placing them in mini muffin cups.

Top with a dollop of sour cream or greek yogurt. Sprinkle crumbled bacon (if using), chives, black pepper, and sea salt.

Serve warm or at room temperature.

Just like the famous Lobster Roll, if it has mayonnaise it is served cold, if it is drizzled in butter it is served warm. Living in the south, I highly recommend the cold version for a summertime treat.

A few fun fact my Waterford, CT raised husband taught me…

The first lobster rolls were served in Connecticut not Maine with melted clarified butter. The major difference between Maine lobster rolls and Connecticut lobster rolls is the temperature of the meat. Maine lobster rolls have mayonnaise and finely chopped celery is served cold. Whereas, the Connecticut lobster roll is topped with warm butter and tarragon.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound medium fresh boiled unpeeled shrimp, heads removed
  • 1 celery stalk. diced
  • 1 scallion, thinly sliced 
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • 3/4 cup full fat mayonnaise (AVOID MIRACLE WHIP! DUKES IF YOU CAN GET IT!)
  • 1 teaspoon horseradish
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2  teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons salted butter
  • 8 Hawaiian rolls sliced in center 3/4 through or 4 potato hot dog buns cut in half
  • 3 tablespoons parsley, chopped
  • 5 cups kettle cook potato chips

Instructions

Bring a medium pot of water to a boil over high heat. Remove the water from the heat, add the shrimp, and coved for 3 minutes until bright pink. Immediately drain and let the shrimp cool for 10 minutes. Peel and devein the shrimp. Roughty cut the shrimp into bite sized pieces. Set aside.

In a mixing bowl, add the celery, scallions, dill, lemon zest, lemon juice, mayonnaise, horseradish, Old Bay seasoning, salt and pepper. Stir to combine. Fold in the shrimp to coat.

Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Place the rolls cut side down in butter for 30 seconds. Flip and cook for another 30 seconds.

Any cracker or crusty bread works with The Ultimate Retro Shrimp Dip, but if you really want to go retro, serve it with Ruffles potato chips, saltine crackers, club crackers, or crackers.

This is a great make ahead party dip that is served chilled. It can be stored in the refrigerator for 3 days in an airtight container

How To Make The Ultimate Retro Shrimp Dip

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces of whole cream cheese (2 blocks)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

DUKE’S if you can get it. AVOID MIRACLE WHIP! THAT IS NOT MAYONNAISE! 😉

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (Retro: bottled lemon juice)
  • 3 tablespoons hot sauce (Frank’s is my favorite!)
  • 1/4 teaspoon worcheshire sauce
  • 1 small white or yellow onion, grated and drained. (Squeeze with clean hands to remove juice or place between 3 paper towels and squeeze.)
  • 8 ounces canned shrimp, drained – or 2 cups roughly chopped fresh boiled shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup thing sliced green onions
  • zest of 1 fresh lemon

Instructions

Step One

Using a hand mixer on medium high, cream the mayonaise and the cream cheese until completely smooth. Next on medium low speed, mix in the lemon juice, hotsauce, worcheshire sauce, grated onion. Add in the shrimp and mix until combined.

Step Two

Scoop the Retro Shrimp Dip into a bowl, Sprinkle on the lemon zest and then the green onions. Serve chilled with saltine crackers, Ritz Crackers, Club Crackers or Ruffles Potato Chips.

  • 1 1/2 cups bloody mary mixer, chilled (I prefer Zing Zang.)
  • 1/4 cup vodka or tequila
  • 5 tablespoons cocktail sauce
  • 3 tablespoons hot sauce
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 lemon slices
  • chives, whole stems clipped to fit glasses

MIXOLOGY

Step One

Add the chilled bloody mary mixer, chilled vodka or tequila, cocktail sauce, hot sauce, black pepper, and salt to a pitcher and stir to combine.

Step Two

Ingredients

  • 6 shrimp large, boiled, deveined, shell left only on tail
  • 1 1/2 cups bloody mary mixer chilled (I prefer Zing Zang.)
  • 1/4 cup vodka or tequila
  • 5 tablespoons cocktail sauce
  • 3 tablespoons hot sauce
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 lemon slices
  • chives whole stems clipped to fit glasses

Instructions

  • Add the chilled bloody mary mixer, chilled vodka or tequila, cocktail sauce, hot sauce, black pepper, and salt to a pitcher and stir to combine.
  • Pour into shot glasses and garnish with a lemon slice, a chive stem, and a large shrimp.

  5. The Vidalia Onion has a 1,300 square foot museum filled with the history of this Georgia treasure.

The Best Baked Sweet Vidalia Onion Dip

Ingredients

  • 3 medium Vidalia Onions
  • 2 – 8 ounce packages of cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 heaping tablespoons of mayonnaise, preferably Duke’s (A southerner can tell if you don’t use Duke’s Mayonnaise.)

Why Southerners Are Crazy About Duke’s Mayonnaise. ‘ You must watch this video! It will make you smile!

Directions

Preheat oven to 350° F.

Using a grater over a bowl, finely grate one of the Vidalia Onions. Using a paper towel, press some some of the water out. Thinly slice the other two Vidalia Onions.

Add the grated onions, sliced onions, cream cheese, parmesan cheese, hot sauce, salt, pepper, and mayonnaise to a medium mixing bowl and stir with a wooden spoon to combine.

Place in an 8 X 8 baking dish and bake for 35 minutes or until golden brown.

Serve with corn chip scoops.

Isn’t it fun to attend a party or an event where there are only bite sized foods? I do! One of my favorite party appetizers is a tiny waffle square spread with honey, topped with a chicken nugget, another mini waffle square, all held together by a pick you can grab from a pretty tray. That is where I got this idea.

When to Serve Cheeseburger Bites on Mini Sesame Seed Buns

Cheeseburger Bites on Mini Sesame Seed Buns

Makes 18 to 24

Ingredients

  • 10 – 12 frozen yeast roll dough balls, thawed ( I used Rhodes from the frozen food section.)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • sesame seeds
  • 1 pound ground chuck or burger meat of your choice
  • 1/2 pound ground sausage
  • 3 tablespoons worcheshire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • mayonnaise
  • mustard
  • butter or romaine lettuce
  • 10 – 12 cheddar cheese squares, sliced into quarters
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced and cut into quarters
  • 5 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 Roma tomatoes
  • 18 – 24 pickles

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350° F.

Line two baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.

Mini Sesame Seed Buns

First, cut each thawed dough ball into 4 even pieces, gently roll each piece into a small ball, and place onto the prepared baking sheet 1″ apart. Next, cover with a clean flour sack towel and let the dough double in size. Brush with the melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack. Optional: Re-brush with melted butter and re-sprinkle sesame seeds.

Bite Sized Cheese Burgers

Add the ground chuck, ground sausage, worcestershire sauce into a medium mixing bowl and gently combine until just mixed. AVOID OVER MIXING. Using a 2 inch scoop, evenly scoop a mound of ground chuck. Using clean hands, roll into a ball and gently press into a patty. Place on the second prepared baking sheet and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Repeat. Press your little finger into the center of each patty to its center. Bake for 25 minutes.

Optional: Add the cheese slices and melt in the oven.

Assembly

Add a touch of mayonnaise to the bottom half of a mini sesame seed bun and spread mustard and catsup on the top half of the sesame seed bun.

Layer from bottom up: lettuce | burger | cheese | | tomato | pickle | bun

Skewer to secure. Place on a pretty tray. Serve

Tips & Notes

  • Serve within 30 minutes of assembly. They will go FAST!
  • These are tricky to stand up straight. Sbe sure to skewer exactly down the center.

Most variations of this delectable recipe call for sour cream, heavy cream, and a touch of sugar. It is more of a dessert soup. Disney serves a famous version strawberry soup using the creams. (I added the Disney recipe below. ? ? It is delicious.)

Now, about The Best Chilled Strawberry Soup, my spin is still sweet with a much lighter refined taste. It is more versatile paired with other foods like sandwiches, pastas, and even fried chicken. ?

The Origin of Strawberry Soup

Fruit soups are believed to have been originated in Scandinavia. Still popular in Sweden and Norway, they are a main dish even served in the winter.

What to Serve with Chilled Strawberry Soup

Chilled strawberry soup makes a great combination served with a light tea sandwich like the Sparkling Charm Benedictine Tea Sandwich, a pasta salad, a hearty summer salad, or even grilled or fried chicken.

Is there a Vegan Dairy Free Version of Chilled Strawberry Soup?

Yes there is. The recipe can be modified without dairy by removing the prosecco and substituting the greek yogurt with full fat coconut cream. The coconut adds a nice flavor.

Disney World Strawberry Soup

Disney has a famous version of this soup that people rave over. If you choose this version, I recommend serving it with something light like a ceasar salad.

BONUS RECIPE: Disney World Strawberry Soup

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds frozen strawberries
  • 16 ounces heavy cream
  • 3 ounces sour cream
  • 3 ounces full fat yogurt

Garnish: fresh strawberries

Directions

Blend all of the ingredients on low until smooth. Chill. Stir before serving. Garnish with fresh strawberries.

  • mint sprigs or strawberry leaves
  • orange zest

Believe it or not, garnishing with a pinch black pepper will give the chilled strawberry soup a perfectly paired bite, it will enhance the flavor of the strawberries. The slight drizzle of olive oil adds more body to the soup.
